The trek to Everest base camp continues to be one of our most rewarding journey. The original route taken on the first ascent of Everest was from Jiri, but now the usual approach to this region begins with a breathtaking flight from Katmandu to Lukla airstrip (2,800m). We follow an ancient route that will take us through tiny villages, across high mountain passes, and through remote valleys, villages, and monasteries. The Everest Base Camp trek winds, climbs and descends its way through lush low land and alpine forest, Buddhist monasteries and authentic Sherpa Villages with the opportunity to explore the lifestyle of the Himalayan people, their religion, customs and traditions.Solu Khumbu is justifiably famous, not only for its proximity to the world's highest mountain (8848 m), but also for its Sherpa villages and monasteries.
Trekkers can wander up to bustling Namche Bazaar, the gateway to the khumbu region at (3440m) to the revered Tengboche Monastery, where you will be rewarded with spectacular views of Mt.Ama dablam, Mt. Everest and lhotse, to the crystalline Gokyo Lake, historic Everest Base Camp trekking , and many other remarkable places in the Everest region. From Tengboche to Pangboche the trail rises through meadows wheregraze yak.You share the trail with yak trains and Tibetan nomads and can choose to stay in simple but welcoming guesthouses in all but the most remote areas.After we reach the sandy plain of Gorakshep, then we climb up amongst large boulders to the broad summit Kala Pathar (5550m), which offers the best view of Everest ,Base Camp and Khumbu Glacier. And far above the tree line towards the earth's highest mountains, on walking ,you will be rewarded with breath taking views of Everest (8848m),Cho Oyu (8152m), Lhotse (8516m),Thamserku (6506m), Makalu (8463m) and Ama Dablam (6456m) and many more.

I had the pleasure last January of having the most wonderful trekking guide in Nepal around Kathmandu and then the Annapurna circuit trekking in Annapurna region trek . I have been with him several times in Nepal including Everest base camp kalapathar trekking upper mustang trekking manaslu trekking in Nepal annapurna base camp trekking and sight seeing around kathmandu patan and bhakatapur Rajandra Khanal was not only knowledgeable about Nepalese history and trails, he was also patient, efficient, very smart and witty, spoke excellent English and always seemed to have a good rapport with whoever we encountered, both local Nepalese and tourists. He was an extremely strong guide who carried some of my belongings along with his own, and never appeared tired, always as energetic and agile as a mountain goat. I remember one instance where we did a steep climb, and I as usual was moving very slowly in Annapurna region trek . When we reacched the top of the mountain I realized I did not have my money pouch, and had probably dropped it way back on the trekking trail where we had stopped. As soon as I told him he was off, running down the mountain at top speed. I watched him reach the bottom and take off like lightning down the trail. We had passed a group of boys walking in the direction of where I had dropped my pouch, and of course, if they found it that would be the end of that. But he reached the pouch before the boys, and came running back down the trail and up the mountain in 15 minutes, the same steep climb that had taken me much longer!! He arrived smiling and happy that he had suceeded. I was very, very grateful, and impressed!!! He was always good natured and hapy!! After that I let him carry my money. At the end of the trek I found out how frugal he had been, and that he had negotiated lodgings so skillfully that he had save me quite a lot of money. We remain good friends and I look forward to the time when I can return to Nepal and trek again with this wonderful young man.
